Select Start from the bottom left of the Windows screen, then Devices and Printers. On your keyboard, hold the Windows key and press X. Right-click on the listing for your printer, then select Printing Preferences. Type Control in the Windows search. (Look for the magnifying glass icon next to Windows icon.) Open the Properties / Preferences window for the printer and follow the steps below for your operating system. Using grayscale alone does not provide this option and the color inks will still be used.Īll ink tanks need to be properly installed to start any print job regardless of the ink color you choose for that specific job. Some color ink will still be used for print head maintenance. If you choose to print in black only, the print quality will be sacrificed.
If you use a Mac ® refer to use only black ink on a Mac. For this reason, you may wish to print using only the black ink tank. When you print using the grayscale option, the printer will continue to access the color ink tanks.
